The Prison Yoga Project: Taking Yoga and Meditation into local prisons.

Since September 2021 Little Wren Yoga has been offering free yoga sessions to prisoners and staff at HMP Bristol.

Every week Matt offers two sessions for men serving custodial sentences; the sessions being used to teach yoga asana practice, meditation techniques and explain yoga philosophy to help develop their resilience. The long-term aim being to teach simple practices to enable the men to develop a yoga self-practice that can be used in their cell or the exercise yard outside of the classes. We have had wonderful feedback from the men of the positive impact yoga is having on their lives.

We also offer a 45-minute yoga asana practice at lunchtime for the staff with the aim of giving them a space to stop and unwind; whilst working an often difficult environment.

The long-term vision is to secure funding to unable us to offer more sessions in HMP Bristol and other local prisoners, and ideally fund a teacher. There are times when we are looking to replace equipment such so if you would like to support us and donate towards the Prison Yoga Project either use the donate button on the website, or use the GoFund me page at: https://gofund.me/002eab6c

Average Equipment prices:

Studio Grade Yoga Mat: £39 or 12 for £298

Yoga Brick: £4.55 or 12 for £55
